Shawna Flavell joined the McHenry County Conservation Foundation as Executive Director in 2018 after working for The Nature Conservancy in Illinois. As a resident of McHenry County, Shawna is thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Foundation and its strategic efforts to advance fundraising in support of critical conservation work in the county. Shawna graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a B.A. in Creative Writing. Always looking to marry her passion for the environment with her love of story, she is happiest listening to people share their stories about nature's impact on their lives.

Carol Elkins joined the McHenry County Conservation Foundation in 2022 with an extensive background in global business, blended with diverse experiences in conservation volunteerism and citizen science across McHenry County, Northern Illinois, and into Southern Wisconsin. Carol is enthusiastic to utilize her combined capabilities to support the Foundation’s conservation mission across McHenry County.
